What is Submental Liposuction?
Submental liposuction is designed to sculpt the chin and neck area by getting rid of excess fat that may be contributing to a double chin. During the procedure, fat is removed from the chin area to produce a slimmer, more youthful contour. It is a simple and straightforward procedure with minimal downtime and offers an excellent outcome.
How Much Does Submental Liposuction Cost?

Who is a Good Candidate for Submental Liposuction?
You may be a good candidate for submental liposuction if you are a healthy adult with unwanted fat on your chin, jaw and/or upper neck area. During your consultation, Dr. Shawn will discuss any medical conditions that may affect your candidacy and determine whether the procedure is right for you.
What Can I Expect During Submental Liposuction?
Dr. Shawn carefully sculpts the chin and jaw area, eliminating all unwanted fat. He then places dressings and fits the patient with a compression garment to help support the new contours. During the first week of recovery, patients should wear the compression garment at all times. The procedure takes about an hour. Sometimes in patients over 40, Dr. Shawn will also recommend and perform a neck lift to tighten and better contour the neck and chin areas.
How Long Will It Take Me to Recover from Submental Liposuction?
Patients will typically need to take about 5-7 days off work before they are cleared to return. Most activities can be resumed within a few days, except for bending, lifting exercising and any other strenuous activity, which you may need to put on hold for several weeks. Patients can expect some bruising and swelling, which will subside as the incisions heal. Sleeping with your head elevated during your recovery will help reduce swelling.
