What is Microneedling?

Microneedling results in higher levels of collagen in your skin, as well as tissue remodeling when used as microneedling for acne scars. The treatment works by producing injuries to the skin that are so small that the wounds do not bleed. Like other types of skin injuries, microneedling works by triggering a healing response that involves the creation of new collagen fibers. The collagen thickens the skin to help with lines and wrinkles, as well as other superficial flaws. Microneedling for acne scars helps your body lay down collagen fibers in a more consistent manner so that the scar is less visible on the surface of the skin. Take a look at our microneedling before and after photos to see the results.

How Much Does Microneedling Cost?

At OptimalSelf MD, we understand that you want to feel good about yourself, yet cost may be a primary consideration. We recommend that you schedule a consultation as a first step. Phone consultations are complimentary, and we charge a fee for an in-office consultation. As part of the consultation, we explain the price of your microneedling treatment, and payment can be made by cash, check, and credit card. We also work with CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to offer our patients financing options.

Who is a Good Candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling benefits almost every skin type, and it is a safe skin rejuvenation option for pregnant women. If your skin looks tired, and you feel dissatisfied with your appearance, microneedling is worth learning about. Dr. Shawn also explains our other aesthetics medical spa services that will promote healthy skin.

What Can I Expect During the Microneedling Treatment?

Dr. Shawn has chosen the MDPen for his patients. The microneedling pen is designed with a series of tiny needles that penetrate the skin to a specific depth. The depth is based upon the nature of your skin flaws. For example, wrinkles require deeper penetration with the microneedling pen compared to fine lines.

How Long Will It Take Me to Recover from Microneedling?

Microneedling requires no recovery period. The in-office procedure for minimally invasive, truly beneficial facial rejuvenation, fractional microdermal needling is a procedure which creates micro-channels within the facial skin, including the dermis. This FDA-approved technology has been sweeping the country with great results, allowing for skin tightening while improving texture and color. By stimulating collagen regeneration, microneedling treatments encourage and promote youthful changes to the underlying dermis and epidermis of your facial skin. By adding hyaluronic acid (HA) – or, better yet, your own growth factors via PRP (platelet-rich plasma) drawn from your own blood serum – your results can be super-charged!

Can I Schedule a Consultation for Microneedling?

Not all microneedling treatments are the same, and Dr. Shawn has researched the best technologies that are available before choosing the MDPen. We encourage you to schedule a consultation with him to learn more about the treatment and the many benefits of our approach. You can schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation with Dr. Shawn or have the consultation at our office for a fee.
