WHAT IS PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?
PRP and/or natural biologics treatment for hair loss is an advanced, non-surgical technique that we offer at OptimalSelf MD.
Hair loss affects men and women quite deeply on an emotional level. You feel less attractive, embarrassed, self-conscious, and even envious of people your age who have full, thick hair.
The application of growth factors from PRP or natural biologics can help with both of these types of hair loss. You can see the results in our before and after photos.
HOW MUCH DOES PRP FOR HAIR LOSS COST?
At OptimalSelf MD, we understand that you want to feel good about yourself, yet cost may be a primary consideration. We recommend that you schedule a consultation as a first step. We charge a fee for an in-office consultation. As part of the consultation, we explain the price of your PRP treatment for hair loss, and payment can be made by cash, check, and credit card. We also work with CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to offer our patients financing options.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?
PRP for hair loss cannot help in areas where you have complete balding, or that “shiny” look. There must be some type of hair growth or dormant follicles, even if it is minimal and the hair shafts are weak. PRP will also not help with hair loss that is linked to any prior scarring of the scalp.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT WITH PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?
PRP is the platelet-rich plasma that is found in your blood. For the treatment, we draw 2 to 4 ounces of blood and process it with the EmCyte double-spin system, isolating the growth-factor rich platelets in a small amount of your plasma. The plasma is then injected into the scalp in the areas where you are losing hair. The treatment may be combined with microneedling of the scalp and/or a series of Keravive treatments. We also highly recommend some key products to use at home.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO RECOVER FROM TREATMENT WITH PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?
PRP injections for hair loss requires no recovery or downtime. Other hair loss treatments, such as hair transplants, require significant recovery periods. As you watch for improvements in the scalp, you should understand that hair grows in a distinct cycle. You may shed some hairs, but these are being replaced by new, more viable hairs. Full results can take a few months.
CAN I SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION FOR PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?
We are excited to offer men and women the option for PRP treatments to help slow hair loss. Speak with Dr. Shawn or Dr. Katherine during a consultation to learn more about the treatment. You can schedule a brief, 15-minute phone consultation for a general understanding of the treatment followed by a more intensive in-office consultation. We do charge a fee for in-office consultations

What is PRP?
PRP or Platelet-rich plasma is a concentrate of platelets derived from a whole blood sample and is a natural way to stimulate healing in the body. Platelets play an important role in our body’s ability to recover and renew by encouraging new cells to grow while removing old, damaged cells.
What PRP services are offered?
At OptimalSelf MD, we offer PRP for hair restoration and PRP for sexual wellness. When used for hair restoration, PRP can help stimulate natural hair growth, restoring fuller, healthy hair to the scalp. When used for sexual wellness, PRP can enhance sexual sensation, enhance arousal and improve sexual function, both for men and women.
How long does PRP last for hair loss?
The PRP treatment for hair loss works gradually, stimulating natural hair growth for months following your treatment. At OptimalSelf MD, our PRP hair loss treatments provide results that last for at least 6-12 months. After this point, the exact longevity of your results will vary by patient. Some patients may need to receive additional PRP treatments to continue stimulating natural hair growth, while others may enjoy longer-lasting results without the need for additional treatments.
Is PRP for hair permanent?
PRP for hair loss is not a permanent solution, because it cannot stop the aging process. Over time, aging and other factors may continue to affect the hair follicles and your natural hair growth. This means that patients may continue to experience hair thinning or hair loss in the years after their PRP treatment. Fortunately, routine PRP treatment sessions can help to prolong your results and slow down hair loss as much as possible.
