Breast Revision: Patient 3
A 58 year-old on-the-go woman who had silicone implants put in over 18 years ago, and started having problems with them. She and her friends noticed that the implants were getting firmer and riding up higher on her chest, especially on the right side. The shape of the Right breast became squared off. These are all signs that she has a capsular contracture (thick, constricting scar tissue around the implant). A mammogram indicated that the implant may have ruptured. After her surgery to remove the old implants and the scar tissue, new anatomic implants (“gummy bears”) and a special skin sling (ADM) were placed using her same breast fold scar. Ecstatic with her natural, age-appropriate new breast contour, shape and softness, she loves to go out now without feeling self-conscious about her breasts!
