WHAT IS A NECK LIFT AND MINI NECK LIFT?

Neck lift surgery can improve the shape of the lower face and neck by smoothing the skin, removing any excess fat, and releasing the muscle bands. A younger, more defined facial appearance results. Take a look at our neck lift before and after photos and mini neck lift photos to see how the procedure helps to improve the neck area.

HOW MUCH DOES A NECK LIFT COST?

At OptimalSelf MD, we understand that you want to feel good about yourself, yet cost may be a primary consideration. We recommend that you schedule a consultation as a first step. As part of the consultation, we explain neck lift or mini neck lift cost, and payment can be made by cash, check, and credit card. We also work with CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to offer our patients financing options.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A NECK LIFT AND MINI NECK LIFT?

A sagging or loose neck can result from weight loss, sun damage or more typically, aging. The neck muscles can contract and cause bands between the chin and lower neck, as well. The lower cheek can sag (creating jowls) and contribute to the apparent aging of the lower face. If you have any of these cosmetic signs of aging, you may be a good candidate for a neck lift or mini neck lift.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING NECK LIFT AND MINI NECK LIFT SURGERY?

Neck lift surgery is typically done in the operating room, but some patients can undergo more local procedures in the office with oral sedation. The procedure begins by making small, inconspicuous incisions directly below the chin, and behind the crease of the ears as well. The neck lift includes both removal of excess skin and fat (cervicoplasty) as well as a smoothing out and repairing the neck muscles (platysmaplasty).

Liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat in the cheeks or neck at the same time, and the laser will help tighten the cheek skin as well.

Suturing will be done to close the incisions, and occasionally drains need to be placed. These are typically removed the next day. The entire neck lift procedure takes two to three hours and may be performed under general or local anesthesia with sedation. These procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.

A mini neck lift can be performed in the office, typically, with oral sedation and local anesthesia or may be done in the operating room. Neck lift surgery can improve the shape of the lower face and neck by smoothing the skin, removing small pockets of excess fat, and releasing the muscle bands that run between the jaw and the neck. The result is a younger, more defined facial appearance.

The procedure begins with the skin being gently lifted from the underlying neck muscle. Typically, the muscle can be tightened, and small amounts of fat can be removed. Liposuction may also be used to remove excess fat in the neck at the same time as a mini neck lift or by itself to improve the neck contour. Laser light will help tighten the neck skin, as well as break up the fat of the neck.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO RECOVER FROM A NECK LIFT AND MINI NECK LIFT?

For neck lift recovery, the swelling from a neck lift can last from five to seven days depending on the extent of the surgery and the post-operative care. Bruising may be present for five to 10 days. Returning to an office job is possible within five to seven days. You will be allowed to walk and do some daily activities immediately after the surgery, but return to strenuous activity, cardio workouts, and heavy lifting will be under close supervision by Dr. Shawn at approximately three weeks, depending on how you are healing.

For a mini neck lift recovery, the swelling can last from five to seven days depending on the extent of the surgery and the post-operative care. Bruising may be present for five to ten days. You will be allowed to walk and do some daily activities immediately after the surgery, but strenuous activity, cardio workouts, and heavy lifting will be restarted under close supervision by Dr. Shawn at about three weeks, depending on how you are healing.
