WHAT IS A BROW LIFT?

Brow lifts are typically performed on patients who have lined or stretched skin on the forehead or who have eyebrows that have fallen down. These conditions contribute to decreased space between the eyelids and the eyebrows.

Brow lifts (or forehead lifts) can correct eyebrow drooping or heaviness which makes patients look tired or feel older than their age. Often, a brow lift is done in combination with other surgeries, like eyelid surgery or facelift. Be sure to take a look at our brow lift before and after photos to see the results we have achieved for our patients.

HOW MUCH DOES A BROW LIFT COST?

At OptimalSelf MD, we understand that you want to feel good about yourself, yet cost may be a primary consideration. We recommend that you schedule a consultation as a first step.  As part of the consultation, we explain your forehead lift cost, and payment can be made by cash, check, and credit card. We also work with CareCredit® and Alphaeon® to offer our patients financing options.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BROW LIFT?

If you look tired and angry even when you are in a good mood, the problem could be that the skin and fat in your forehead has shifted downward. You may also have horizontal lines across your forehead and between your eyes. These are all good indications that you may be a candidate for a forehead lift.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A BROW LIFT?

For brow lift surgery, small incisions in the hair above the forehead allow access to alter the muscles above the eyes and to smooth lines and lift up the eyebrows, giving a more youthful appearance. Sutures are placed to hold the forehead skin and eyebrows in the new position. This procedure can be done with sedation in the office or in the O.R. with anesthesia, depending on the amount of surgery or the comfort level of the patient.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO RECOVER FROM BROW LIFT?

For forehead lift surgery recovery, the swelling can last from five to 10 days, depending on the extent of the surgery and the post-operative care. Bruising may be present for five to 14 days. You will be allowed to walk and do some daily activities immediately after the surgery, but strenuous activity, cardio workouts, and heavy lifting will be restarted under close supervision by Dr. Shawn in three to four weeks depending on how you are healing.

CAN I SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION FOR BROW LIFT?

If you want to learn more about the results that you see in our forehead lift before and after photos, schedule a consultation with Dr. Shawn. We offer 15-minute phone consultations and in-office consultations for a fee. Some of the questions that you may want to ask Dr. Shawn during the consultation are:

  • “Should I get an eyebrow lift at the same time as eyelid surgery to improve the overall look of my upper face?”
  • “Are there any other types of procedures I can do to improve the lines on my forehead?”

How long does a brow lift last?

The results from a brow lift are permanent, but they do not stop the aging process. Therefore, patients can expect to continue aging in and around the forehead even after their brow lift procedure. Generally, patients can expect brow lift results to last about 5 to 10 years before the natural aging process returns the treatment area to its original condition. The exact timeline will vary for each patient.

Is a brow lift worth it?

Yes, many patients find that a brow lift is well worth it. Without a brow lift, addressing signs of aging in the forehead and the surrounding areas can be very difficult. Most alternatives provide only subtle, short-term results, making a brow lift the only treatment that can provide significant and long-lasting anti-aging benefits. Despite the costs and recovery time, many patients find the results of their brow lift to be worth it.

How painful is a brow lift?

The brow lift can be performed with either local or general anesthesia, depending on the treatment plan and the patient’s preference. In any case, the treatment area will be fully numbed for the procedure, eliminating any discomfort during surgery. Any pain you experience from the brow lift treatment will occur after the surgery, during the recovery process. These symptoms will be most severe within the first few days, and can be managed with pain medications, applying ice to the treatment area and following your other recovery guidelines. Although minor side effects may persist longer, most painful side effects are healed within two weeks.
